BALANGA CITY- Bataan General Hospital (BGH) has provided a geriatric ward for senior citizens primarily devoted to the treatment of biological and physical changes and diseases of old age.

Tigas, chair of SP Senior Citizens’ committee, was unanimously approved recently for the benefit of the elderly sector in Bataan.
Ms. Tigas explained that the creation of geriatric ward conforms with Section 5 of Republic Act 994,also known as the expanded Senior Citizens’ Act of 2003 stating that there shall be established a senior citizen’s ward for those who are in need of hospital confinement by reason of their heath conditions.
Senior citizens in the province lauded the SP resolution and Governor Albert S. Garcia for it is a big help to them considering the rising cost of medical treatment and confinement in privately-run hospitals.
Tigas added, owing to reports from senior citizens about some drugstores who give lower discounts for medicines, the government is closely monitoring the unlawful practices close coordination with the elderly associations in the locality.
