LGU, private publisher to distribute free textbooks

ABUCAY, Bataan – The municipal government here led by Mayor Ana D. Santiago has recently partnered with a private firm to help indigent students here this coming school year 2015-2016.

Tagged as “Handog Karunungan” project, it aims to give free textbooks and even free school supplies to basically poor but deserving students of this town. “We have partnered with The Salesiana Publishers Inc. to give new textbooks to more than 14 thousand students here,” Mayor Santiago told newsmen. Herbert S. Vianzon, municipal administrator said that they will distribute it to 7 public schools and 11 day care centers located in nine barangays or villages.

Salesiana Textbooks is Don Bosco Press, Inc.’s flagship product line. Their aim is to aid the teachers in the holistic formation of their students. Its website affirms that Salesiana Textbooks are meticulously and scholastically prepared, ensuring that the following elements are present in each and every textbook such as values integration that incorporate proper christian values that will mold the student to live unity of life wherein virtues are weaved into the student’s daily life, with values that the student will carry even after he or she finishes school.

“Malaking tulong po ito sa aming mga anak lalo na po kaming mga walang kakayahang bumili ng mga bagong libro na iyan. Kaya malaki po ang aming pasasalamat kay Mayor Ana at sa Salesiana Publishers,” a parent from Barangay Wawa said.
