Councilor Mel Fernando said the Municipality of Limay has intensified drive against illegal fishing.
“We have a municipal fish sanctuary that we are strictly guarding”, the councilor said.
Fernando was in Limay Seaborne Patrol headquarter giving instructions to patrollers and asking updates on the anti-illegal fishing drive.

“The Seaborne Patrol is organized again by Mayor Nelson David with our support from the Sangguniang Bayan headed by our Vice Mayor Richie David”, he said.
“Lamao Seaborne Patrol is also being put up”, he added.

“Ever since I have instruction to patrollers not to accept fish from fishermen so as not to be mistaken of receiving bribe”, he pointed out.
The patrollers reported to the councilor that 12 boats were caught fishing in the sanctuary for the two weeks.
Fernando was Vice Mayor of Limay from 2004 to 2010. He was councilor from 1995 to 2004 and 2016 to present.
