BALANGA CITY, Bataan – As an off shoot of the successful assessment conducted last September 25 & 26, 2014 among children with cerebral palsy, 49 intermediate wheelchairs for cerebral palsies were awarded to the Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) by the Latter Day Saints Charities (LDSC), which is covered by the Memorandum of Agreement signed by the two parties under the provision of mobility and assistive devices for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. These intermediate wheelchairs will definitely assist and aid the mobility of these children and the elderly.
Prior to the distribution of the wheelchairs, an Orientation on the Care and Management of Cerebral Palsy was held this morning at the Cultural Hall, Church of Latter Day Saints, this City aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of parents and guardians in caring for a child with cerebral palsy.
Ninety eight (98) participants composed of parents, focal persons, wheelchair assessors, LDSC missionaries and members of the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs attended the orientation. Resource speakers from the UP College Manila and KASAMAKA CBR Foundation discussed Cerebral Palsy: its prevention and treatment and Maintenance of intermediate wheelchairs.
Persons with disabilities will never be left behind in Bataan.
