Morong remains COVID-19 free

Sometimes it pays to have a doctor as a municipal mayor more so during the advent of killer COVID -19. Mayor Cynthia Estanislao, an anesthesiologist, just like any other town officials in Bataan, did not leave her town from the day the corona virus was felt by the nation and since it struck the province when the first patient turned out positive for the virus. Morong has remained free from corona virus up to this writing. Other COVID -19 free towns are Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, and Pilar. (At least, as of this writing.) The mayor’s husband, former Morong mayor Jorge Estanislao, also a gynecologist, said: with the onset of COVID -19, the municipal government had put up the Municipal Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (MESU). The MESU monitors and identifies PUIs and PUMs and all individuals coming from Metro Manila, the OFWs, and people with travel history. “This could be the reason why up to now we are still COVID-19 free,” he said. “Alam mo kami lang ata ang health center na functioning as a primary health care facility na puwede manage yung mga simple cases of dehydration, asthma, simple traumatic accidents at iba pa,” said the former mayor. Jorge who speaks for his wife mayor said all the beach resorts in Morong had been ordered closed to stop attracting people from all walks of life. “Alam mo domino effect yan kung meron ang isa, mahahawa na lahat yan kung asymptomatic ang carrier,” he said.
