Castro further added that as soon as the hot air balloons fly in 60 to 90-minute flight, groups of “chase crews” riding in 4×4 vehicles will be deployed to make sure that they will be on the sites where balloons will land for pick-up.

Members of the “chase crews” issued identification cards and their vehicles will be properly marked for the security personnel to identify them as part of the festival activities.

The said event tagged as “one of the biggest and most colorful tourism spectacles” for this year is expected to draw the attention of some 100,000 spectators from Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Castro also confirmed that at present, 35 balloonists from 18 countries have confirmed their participation in the festival.

Among the 35 balloons, 27 are normal shaped while 8 are “special-shaped” like Angry Bird, Superbike, and Simba the Lion.

Castro also requested the office of the Bataan governor for mobile rescue and medical teams to be on stand by for rescue and medical assistance in emergency cases or any untoward incidents.

The provincial government here will also assist in traffic management due to the fact that most of the guests, tourists and visitors will be passing the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Dinalupihan-Hermosa Exit on the way to the festival site.

The said event aims to generate economic activity in and around Lubao town through travel and tourism and attract more visitors and tourists into the province of Pampanga and nearby provinces through marketing and development of major activities such as ballooning and other air-sporting activities.

Jovie Arias of Creative Media Works, the event manager, said this year’s ballooning event will coincide with the formal opening of the 25 hectare cable park and golf courses in Lubao, Pampanga.

Meanwhile, Helen Escudero, appointment secretary of Governor Garcia told Bataan newsmen that tickets for the said event are available at the Bataan Tourism Center located in Roman Highway, Barangay Tenejero, Balanga City. Interested parties and individuals are advised to look for Tetchie Banzon, officer-in-charge of the said office.
