The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reminded and asked the public to support RA 11361 or the Anti- Obstruction of Power Lines Act. “The law aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply from generating plants to end-users and protect the reliability of power lines by keeping the surrounding land, air space and the area traversed by power lines free of any obstruction”, NGCP stated.

These acts are prohibited within the power line corridor: Planting tall trees or vegetation; constructing any hazardous improvements; conducting any hazardous activity; and refusing or preventing entry to the transmission operator or their representatives. NGCP said the penalties for violating the law are 1st offense, up to 6 months imprisonment, P50,000 fine or both; 2nd offense, up to 6 years imprisonment, P100, 000 fine or both; and 3rd offense, up to 12 years imprisonment, P200,000 fine or both.
