ORANI, Bataan – To avert the occurrence of perennial flooding on the national road in this seafood-rich municipality, the municipal engineer’s office is set to build a 700-meter road link to Barangay Puksuan of the said town. The proposed road is 10 meters wide.
Mandy Cruz, municipal engineer of Orani town, said the project which is part of the municipal government’s flood control project, will cost P30 million. He said the fund was facilitated by Orani Mayor Efren E. Pascual, Jr. with provincial government of Bataan.
Cruz said the construction of new road will affect fishponds and other properties of a resident identified as Kevin Cunanan. He said to resolve the problem on right of way, the land owner decided to donate the affected properties.
“From the low-lying portion of Orani, the road will help ease the flow of floodwaters all the way to the Puksuan Bridge through the road canals,” Cruz added.
The road project is one of Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia’s avowed plans to improve road networks and avoid flooding in the province’s municipalities.
