“Ang mga anak na napalaki nang maayos ay nagdudulot ng habang buhay na pag-asa, ngunit ang mga anak na hindi napalaki nang maayos ay nagdudulot ng habang buhay na pagdurusa.”
DINALUPIHAN, Bataan –The Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) on Friday (February 19), spearheaded an Orientation on Child Protection Law themed “Panayam. Panata. Pagtugon: Mapanagutang Magulang”, held at the Dinalupihan Civic Center.
“Paano nga ba ang aking gagawin upang ako’y maging isang responsableng magulang upang ang aking mga anak ay lumaking responsableng mamamayan,” Ms. Marilyn Tigas, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO), said during her welcome remarks as she challenged the participating parents in the said event.
Ms. Tigas also added that this forum was organized to increase the participants’ knowledge on how to produce good and productive citizens of the nation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rachel Reyes-Laureano, Dean of the College of Social Science and Behavioral Sciences of Bataan Peninsula State University-Balanga Campus, who served as the guest speaker, shared the eight (8) psychological needs of a child/person such as: (1) the need to feel that they are important, (2) the need to feel that they are accepted, (3) the need to be disciplined in a right way, (4) the need to feel that they have the capabilities, (5) the need to feel that they belong, (6) the need to let them express their opinions, (7) the need to let them know the spiritual things, and lastly, (8) the need to let them see the importance of beauty in the environment and the beauty in their lives.

Furthermore, an open forum was conducted at the third part of the activity wherein the parents actively participated on the question and answer portion. Several questions were raised where PCWC staff and the guest speaker responded.
The PCWC was well-represented by the PSWDO led by Ms. Tigas; Mr. Andres Matawaran of the Department of Education; Insp. Jennifer Cruz, Philippine National Police; Mr. Joselito Diego, Department of Labor and Employment; Mr. Jose Daniel Rico of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO); and Ms. Will Ann Garcia from the Provincial Planning and Development Office.
The program, which was facilitated by Mr. Jose Mari Garcia, started with Ms. Ma. Lourdes Laconsay, Senior Research Specialist of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-San Fernando Branch, who taught the parents regarding demonetization schedule, tips on how to know if a bill is fake or not and its security features.
Gift-giving was executed at the last part of the event wherein the federated district presidents of PTA coming from the 11 towns of the province received a post-Valentine gift from the provincial government.
