CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – To provide awareness regarding earthquake, its phases and what to do during and after an earthquake, the Provincial Disaster Risk-Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) is conducting a Disaster Preparedness Training for the Provincial Government of Bataan Department Heads at the Bulwagan ng Bayan today.
“An earthquake is an occurrence na hindi natin mape-predict, kaya it is our duty to prepare and be aware kung kaya’t ginagawa natin ang training na ito,” said Ps. Supt. Audie DM. Atienza, PDRRMO Head, in his welcome remarks.
Ms. Rowena Marie Soriano, RN, head for the Operation and Warning Section discussed the causes of an earthquake and how it is measured.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lar R. Baluyot, Shift Supervisor, Team Alpha, focused on the topic: Phases of Earthquake and Briefing on Earthquake Drill. Such phases include the following: (1) alarm phase, (2) response phase, (3) evacuation phase, (4) assembly phase, (5) head-count phase, and (6) the evaluation phase.
Aside from the discussion on earthquake, the training also dealt with the provision of knowledge on basic first aid, basic life support and other components on basic life saving.
Ms. Maria Charina C. Cayanan, RN, Research and Planning Section Head, talked about the roles and responsibilities of a first aider, characteristics of a good first aider, objectives of first aid and the hindrances in giving first aid.
Mr. Baluyot also discussed Discussions on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and the Different Types of Carry were also ably handled by Mr. Baluyot while Mr. Mario Valerio, Shift Supervisor, Team Bravo, provided the participants with the knowledge on Bandaging.
Actual simulation and return demo were likewise executed during the whole-day training.
