ORION,Bataan – Secretary Harry L. Roque, presidential spokesman distributed the other day 50 units of shallow tube wells diesel powered pump engines worth P 4.5 million to farmer associations in eleven towns and the component City of Balanga.
Secretary Roque who motored with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) officials to the coastal town of Orion for the formal turnover of the diesel-powered irrigation pumps to farmer groups who were severely affected d y the worst flooding in the past decades last month spawned by heavy monsoon rains.
Speaking before some 1,000 local municipal officials ked by Officer-in- Charge Virgilio Isidro , farmer associations and residents in the Sangguniang Bayan hall, Roque stressed the latest farm equipment would provide small tillers with irrigation waters during planting season and other agricultural purposes.
He explained the distribution scheme reportedly focused on the upliftment of the agricultural outputs of the farmers in the countryside and his commitment as a partylist representative under Republic Act 10969 revoking irrigation fees imposed on the farmers by the National Irrigation Administration.
He announced the approval of the NIA budgetary appropriation amounting to P 33 billion for next year would apply to the best interest of the agricultural sectors for the sustainable livelihood and upgrading the production capability of the farmers.
Roque was overwhelmed by the presence of his distant relatives in the rich fishing ground of Orion who relentless work for the improvements of the socio-economic prosperity of the historic peninsula.
