PSWDO conducts mental health awareness seminar

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conducted a seminar on Self-Enhancement Focusing on Mental Health Awareness, Healthy Lifestyle and Personality Development held at Lou-is Restaurant last Friday.
Attended by 220 participants from the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) ,Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines in eleven (11) towns and Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program(4Ps’), the whole-day seminar provided insights on the basic causes of mental illness and necessary treatment techniques.

Underscored in the seminar was the importance of solid spiritual commitment, close family ties and healthy lifestyles as best options in confronting the threat of stress, depression and other negative anxiety which may lead to committing suicide.
Ms. Jocelyn Mena, social welfare officer ll said the two speakers, Mr. Jojie Maglaqui, health education and promotion officer of Mariveles Mental Hospital and Dr. Rachel Laureano, BPSU associate professor spoke extensively on the elemental causes of anxiety disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder (panic attacks), generalized anxiety disorder and specific phobias.
