Quality growth, key to eliminate poverty

CAPITOL GROUNDS – During last Monday’s (November 14), flag raising ceremony led by the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), Mr. Vic Ubaldo, reported the accomplishments and plans of the office that he ably leads.

Governor Albert S. Garcia likewise took the opportunity to explain to the provincial capitol employees the slight revision on the province’s vision which now goes: “By 2020 Bataan will have the lowest poverty incidence brought about by quality growth leading to the highest human development index in the Philippines.

The hardworking governor once again underscored the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority where Bataan placed second least poor province in the country which he humbly attributed to the efforts of everybody. He said that with this, we are now aiming to be on top or even totally eliminate poverty.

Gov. Abet also painstakingly explained the reason for the inclusion of the term “quality growth” in the province’s vision. As we exert our efforts to attain the highest level of economic growth, which is fueled by investments, we also maintain safeguards to protect our environment, and quality growth involves efficiency, inclusiveness and sustainability. He also emphasized that there is no greater game changer in eliminating poverty than economic growth. When that is achieved, “ang mga tao sa Bataan ay magiging matatalino, mayayaman, malulusog at mahaba ang buhay”, the governor added.

In the end, Gov. Abet congratulated the 15 departments who were awarded with certificates of recognition for garnering high scores in the 5S program spearheaded by the Provincial Human Resource Management Office under its Officer-in-Charge, Mrs. Luz Enriquez.

Topping the list is the PSWDO followed by PCEDO, tied at 3rd place are Bagac District Hospital and PHRMP, at 4th place is the Accounting Office, the Budget Office at 5th place, the PGO, Assessor’s Office, PEO, PGSO and MBDA were all tied at 6th place, the PPDO came close at 7th place, PESO placed 8th, the PTO at 9th place and the PHO at 10th.
