CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Governor Abet S. Garcia warmly welcomed Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III and the delegates to the 19th Philippine National Immunization Conference yesterday, November 15 at the Lou-is Resort and Restaurant, this city. Attendees are health practitioners from all over the country.
In his message, Governor Abet proudly said that Bataan has the lowest poverty incidence in the Philippines at 1.2%. He attributes this to the health programs being implemented by the Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) in partnership with the different concerned agencies like the Bataan General Hospital.
Just recently, the PGB signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the BGH for the utilization of their “Service Delivery Network” (SDN) that will provide faster health care service to the people to ensure a healthy community and high life expectancy rate among Bataeños.
Secretary Duque discussed some of the programs of the DOH such as the “Universal Health Care” which will be signed in to law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte anytime and the immunization program of the government. He underscored the importance of vaccination/immunization to society because it will lower the risk of getting sick like flu, polio, and malaria.
During the press conference, Sec. Duque recognized the crucial role of the media, “The role of media is very important because they are the “informants” of the society on the programs of the government”.
To parents and individuals who are afraid of vaccination, Sec. Duque had this to say: “believe in the findings of the DOH that vaccines are good for us and let us unite to spread information on how good vaccines are”.
