DOLE grants P470K for livelihood to Bataenos

BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently awarded livelihood grants amounting to P470,000 to 176 marginalized Bataeños belonging to three groups, while a total of 144 applicants were hired on the spot during the DOLE and Bataan provincial government sponsored Post-Labor job fair held at the Bataan People’s Center.

In a news dispatch by the government run Philippine Information Agency (PIA), DOLE Regional Director Raymundo Agranvate said  “P170,000 was conferred to a 76-member indigent group in Orion for a Bigasan Project, P150,000 to the 50-member United Bagac Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association Inc. for motor spare parts and accessories trading project, and P150,000 to the 50-member Hermosa Bataan Eagle Farmer’s Association for a reaper machine rental project.”

Brigada Eskwela ng DepEd, nakatuon sa paghahanda sa kalamidad

BALANGA CITY, Bataan —  Target ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa kanilang pagsisimula ng taunang Brigada Eskwela ngayong Lunes na maging handa at ligtas sa anumang uri ng kalamidad at sakuna ang mga pampublikong paaralan na karaniwang ginagamit bilang mga evacuation centers.

Pangunahing tema ng 11th Annual National Schools Maintenance Week o Brigada Eskwela ang “Disaster risk reduction, preparedness and safety in schools,” kung saan kasama sa kanilang isang linggong aktibidad ang itaas ang kaalaman ng  school communities ukol sa climate change at mga panganib na dala nito at magpatupad ng isang sistema o mga dapat gawin at sundin sa panahon ng kalamidad at emergency cases.

INCREASE OF PALAY SELLING PRICE HELPS FARMERS

   The summer crop harvest season has been going on since March 2014 and the aggressive palay buying of rice traders has resulted to a higher price of the grain, benefiting farmers all over the country.

   Here in Bataan, palay is sold at P19.00 to P22.00 per kilogram, giving a chance for farmers to finally get back the losses they accrued during previous harvest seasons, where palay was sold at P15.00 to P18.00 per kilogram.

DTI helps Bataan growers boost coffee production

ORANI, Bataan, May 14 (PIA) – The best tasting coffee of Bataan will reach more corners of the country as coffee growers here get advanced sets of equipment from the government to improve their production.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Bataan recently turned over P1.6 million worth of coffee processing equipment to Tala Orani Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TAMCO) which will help the farmer group to produce more milled coffee beans.

Bataan beauty crowned Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism 2014

   DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – A  former Bataan beauty queen who hails from this town, was crowned Miss Philippines Earth (MPE) Eco-Tourism 2014 last Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

BATAAN VAC-TWG CONDUCTS STUDY TOUR TO CAVITE

Tasked to review and recommend significant changes in the 2009 Provincial Investment Incentives Code of Bataan and subsequently for the functionality of the Investment Board, the Vision Aligned Circle-Technical Working Group (VAC-TWG) of the Province of Bataan conducted a local study tour to the Province of Cavite on May 5, 2014.

CAFGU to spearhead planting of coral reefs in Bagac beach

BAGAC, Bataan-The Philippine Army’s recruited Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) will spearhead and are ready for the  planting of around 20,000 coral reefs off the coastal area in Barangay Saysain, this town after the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)  also pledged support for the project.

Lt. Col. Gilmar Galicia, newly-designated Commanding Officer of the Army’s 70th CAFGU battalion, and former C.O. of the 24thInfantry Battalion, told this correspondent that the DOST provided them with scuba diving gadgets and diving masks, saying all is set for their plan to propagate coral reefs along the coastal areas here.

Col. Galicia said that this is part of their contribution to the national government’s environment program with the pledge joined by the Phil Army and PNP to pursue the environmental project.

DOST to install more automatic rain gauge equipment

CAPITOL, Bataan- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will install in Bataan additional equipment for automatic rain gauge (ARG) and water level monitoring system to further improve its disaster imagination capabilities to local government units (LGUs) and reduce potential damages to properties and casualties.

 Dr. Victor V. Mariano, DOST Regional Director, informed Gov. Abet S. Garcia in his courtesy call Monday inside the Chief Executive office that DOST will install 10 more units of ARG and 24 more units of water level monitoring systems in various parts of the Province.

 Director Mariano thanked also the governor for donating an office inside the capitol compound to be used by the DOST provincial personnel to further improve their services to the public.
