BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Three barangays in this city conducted a clustered Katipunan ng Kabataan assembly at Barangay Cupang North.
Balanga City SK Federated President Jim Espinosa of Barangay Poblacion spearheaded the assembly. The other two barangays were Cupang North and Bagumbayan.
During the Kabataan Forum, Katipunan ng Kabataan members raised various concerns ranging from education, role of youth in peace and order, community involvement, and benefits, among others, answered by the sets of SK officials.
“We are doing the forum to know what programs we will provide funds for by next year”, said Espinosa.
“We have our own fund separate from the barangay, we will have our own treasurer and secretary”, he added.
Balanga DILG officer Evelyn Matias said, “The law mandates the Katipunan ng Kabataan in each barangay to hold an assembly once a year”.
In the first part of the program, special guest Cristiana Espinosa, president of Student Council of Senator O’conner School, Toronto, Canada and cousin of the SK federated president, gave words of guidance on youth leadership.
“You should know how to communicate, it is vital. You should have integrity, and you must be part of community building”, she advised the youths.
The SK chairpersons of other barangays showed up in the activity in support to their federated president.
Gemo Espinosa, BIR Bataan Admin and HR officer and father of SK federated president, thanked Cupang North Captain Labo Ongkingco for allowing the use of the covered court for the assembly.
