BALANGA CITY, Bataan- Senior Superintendent Benjamin H. Silo,Jr., Bataan police director, has bared the new development in the lifestyle of suspected drug users and pushers as he continues to solicit parental cooperation to monitor the activities of their children.
Speaking before some 300 surrenderees, their relatives, guests, Army and Police officers yesterday during the opening of the 3rd Bahay Pag-asa Reformation Center located at the former Army Brigade headquarters in Barangay Camacho, this City, Silo reported that majority of the 3,200 registered surrenderees in the province are already inside their residences before 7:00 P.M. which is the exact opposite of their previous habits of staying outdoors up to the wee hours in the morning.
He said this significant improvement from their old bad habits reportedly caused by the government’s relentless drive to get rid of the country of drug users, pushers and suppliers within six months.
Silo has sought the active parental role of monitoring the activities of their children and neighbors as effective measures to check if they faithfully conform to their oath to turn away from drugs.
The Bataan police director, a psychology major and a lawyer, said he wants the former drug pushers to be truthful in the rehabilitation program since Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia has expressed his willingness to assist them to live a normal life and extend them the benefit of the government enhancement program by providing technical skills for their livelihood.
Expecting the cooperation of the surrenderees in the rehabilitation center, Silo said the local government agencies and municipal mayors are doing their best to achieve positive changes in the community and protection of the youth against all threats to their productive growth, particularly illegal drugs.
He stressed the existing peaceful atmosphere in the province is of paramount importance to ensure the socio-economic progress and investors solid confidence to the excellent business prospects of Bataan peninsula with the presence of numerous ecozones .
