BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The 6th batch of board reviewers received their financial assistance under the Iskolar ng Bataan program here on Thursday.
“You now have education, you are now ready to have a successful future”, said Gov. Abet Garcia who found time from his busy schedule to meet the 886 beneficiaries at the Bataan People’s Center.
It will be remembered that the late Governor Tet Garcia and then 2nd District Congressman Gov. Garcia hatched in 2005 the Iskolar ng Bataan program benefiting ever since thousands of college students from the province.
Second District Congressman Joet Garcia meanwhile took the opportunity to update beneficiaries on the bills he initiated in Congress like the upgrading of the Bataan Mental Hospital in Mariveles and the expansion of the Freeport Area of Bataan.
For her part, Governor Cris Garcia told beneficiaries that “real life” awaits them and advised them to use education to have a good future.
The vice governor also led the distribution of the allowance of 463 college students studying outside Bataan in the afternoon.
It will be remembered that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan through her leadership unanimously passed in 2017 a resolution giving financial assistance to “poor and deserving” graduates who are residents of the province for board and bar examination review.
Before becoming vice governor, Garcia was the coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan and Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan. She now serves as adviser of the scholarship program.
Iskolar ng Bataan coordinator Ramon Canas said that reviewees who were Iskolar ng Bataan beneficiaries got P5,000.00 financial assistance each, and those who were not received P3,000.00.
The Garcias are known for putting high premium on education.
