72 teachers, recipients of Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan for 2019

Vice Governor Cris Garcia led the orientation of 72 teachers in the province as recipients of this year “Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan”.
“Sixty six teachers were awarded scholarship for masteral degree and 6 for doctoral degree”, said Bataan scholarship coordinator Ramon Canas who was also present during the orientation held last week at DepEd Building, capitol compound.
“You cannot teach what you do not know. The continuing study will broaden your knowledge and further improve your teaching skills”, he quoted the vice governor saying to teachers during the orientation.
Before becoming vice governor, she was the original coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan and Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan. She now serves as adviser of the scholarship program.
The Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan has existing 171 masteral degree and 41 doctoral degree beneficiaries plus the new recipients this school year 2019-2020.
Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan is a scholarship program of the provincial government in tie up with Bataan Peninsula State University for teachers in the province.
The tuition fee is paid by the provincial government while the miscellaneous fee is shouldered by the university.
The late governor Tet Garcia hatched the scholarship for teachers in 2005 a year after he and Gov. Abet Garcia then congressman started the Iskolar ng Bataan for college students.
