Seven hundred sixty seven board reviewers belonging to the 6th batch of beneficiaries this year received their financial assistance under the Iskolar ng Bataan program here on Friday.
Vice Gov. Cris Garcia spearheaded the distribution held at Bataan People’s Center.
“The dream of the late Gov. Tet Garcia is for each Bataan family to have at least one college graduate that was why he and then former congressman now Gov. Abet Garcia launched the Iskolar ng Bataan program”, the vice governor told beneficiaries.
“What is great to learn is that today many Bataan families has more than one graduate, even two or three because of the program”, she said.
Iskolar ng Bataan coordinator Ramon Canas said that reviewers who were Iskolar ng Bataan beneficiaries got P5,000.00 financial assistance, and those who were not, received P3,000.00.
He also announced that by next year 2020 all beneficiaries will receive equal amout of P5,000 each.
He said the program which started in 2017 has already benefited 3,709 board examinees with the funds amounting to P15,678,000 released by the provincial government.
Before becoming vice governor, Garcia was the original coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan. She now serves as adviser of the scholarship program.
