Seventy-eight barangays were awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bataan yesterday, February 18, 2019 during the ‘Husay Barangay 2019’ Program of the DILG.
Said barangays were recognized for their ‘matino, mahusay at maaasahan’ performance in effectively implementing DILG programs particularly in the barangays such as Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) Functionality Audit, Barangay Development Council Functionality Assessment, Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay and establishment of Local Governance Resource Center. Also acknowledged were the barangays who are consistent in their support to the initiatives and efforts of DILG Bataan in upholding and promoting good local governance.
Governor Albert Garcia who graced the event, commended and thanked the punong barangays for their excellent performance and even called them as the ‘first line of defense’ in dealing with the problems of their communities.
DILG Provincial Director Ms. Myra Moral-Soriano, in her message, expressed her appreciation to the punong barangays for adhering to the mandates of the Department.
Also in attendance were Balanga Mayor Francis Garcia, Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton and Pilar Mayor Charlie Pizarro who also participated in the Pledge of Commitment to the DisiplinaMuna Campaign led by Liga ng mga Barangay Vice President Venancio Villapando, a new national advocacy of DILG for better and safer community composed of 7 pillars including road clearing operations, anti-drug campaigns, disaster preparedness and resilience, liquor ban, anti-smoking, tourist spot clean-up, ease of doing business and anti-smoking.
