BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Vice Governor Cris Garcia led the awarding of scholarship grants to 85 teachers in the province under the “Gurong Iskolar ng Bataan” program.
“Seventy five teachers were awarded scholarship for the masteral degree and 10 for doctoral degree”, said Bataan scholarship coordinator Ramon Cañas who was also present during the awarding held last week at the Conference Room, DepEd Building, capitol compound.
“The late Gov. Tet Garcia hatched the scholarship program to empower you. Just like in Finland where all teachers have either masteral degree or doctoral degree”, he quoted the vice governor speaking before teachers during the awarding ceremony.
The late governor hatched the scholarship for teachers in 2007 two years after he and Gov. Abet Garcia then congressman started the Iskolar ng Bataan for college students. Finland is known to have the best education system in the world.
“You cannot give what you don’t have”, Canas further quoting the vice governor as she recalled the words of the late governor to teachers.
