9 Bataan towns, one city get recognition as child friendly municipalities

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The city government of Balanga and nine (9) other municipalities in Bataan will be awarded the 2015 Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance because of their programs and policies alleviating the plight of children in their respective communities.

Governor Albert S. Garcia, chairman of the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) discussed the importance of awarding said certificates to these municipalities in recognition of their exemplary efforts in implementing a child-friendly environment at the local level.

The awardees were selected based in the PCWC’s religious monitoring visits to various municipal councils for the protection of children, evaluation of activities that would improve the status of the children and other tangible programs and services, upgrading the welfare of children.

The Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children will present the certificates of recognition to the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal and Abucay in the first congressional district of the province on March 28, while the certificates of recognition for Balanga City, Pilar, Bagac, Orion and Mariveles in the second congressional district will be presented on April 4.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office undertook the co-shared screening process for submission to Governor Garcia, PCWC provincial chair.
