30 MASAGKA-CFM officers and members attend bamboo skills training

BAGAC, Bataan – About 30 members and officers of Mamamayan Sagip Kalikasan- Community-based Forest Management (MASAGKA-CFM) Association in the upland village of Banawang, this town have undergone extensive skills training on engineered bamboo products.

Ms. Nelin O. Cabahug, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial director for Bataan, said the skills training program was conducted with the cooperation of trainers coming from the Products Research and Developmental Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (PRDI-DOST).

Cabahug explained the technical training on bamboo production scheme would enhance the human resource growth aspect of the community-based organization to become more assertive and creative in pursuing income generating projects.

She described that high-quality bamboo products to be manufactured in the Shared Service Facility in Barangay Banawang already have captive markets with the presence of the nearby Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, a well-known heritage resort and world-class scenic beach resorts facing the West Philippine Sea.
