DOE technical staff conduct wind survey in Bagac

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – A technical team from the Department of Energy (DOE) is setting –up a structure to evaluate wind dimensions in the mountainous stretch of two upland villages of San Antonio and Saysain in Bagac.

Nick S. Ancheta, Bagac municipal administrator, said the year-long monitoring scheme would provide measurements about the wind speed and direction preparatory to the launching of a renewable energy development venture in the province’s leading tourist destination.

Ancheta explained the government thrust of expanding environmentally safe power generating projects by developing renewable energy other than the traditional type of power plants using coal and oil as fuel in its operations which reportedly are hazardous to health and the ecosystem.

Asked what he thought of the alternative power projects, Ancheta responded that it would hasten the government’s campaign of pollution-free sources of electricity in the rural areas.

He added the newly acceptable concept of utilizing on wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biomass energy development would be more advantageous to the health and welfare of the residents residing near the facilities.
