DTI grants P 360,000 worth of cashew processing machines to upland farmers

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bataan provincial office has provided cashew processing machines worth P 360,000 for the livelihood project of the residents in the upland village of Mabiga, Hermosa town, this province.

MS. Nelin O. Cabahug, DTI Bataan provincial director, pointed out the granting of food processing machines for some 20 members of Mabiga Farmers Development Cooperative under the agency’s Shared Service Facilities (SSF) is aimed to improve the quality of locally-manufactured goods, to hasten the entrepreneurial spirit and business capabilities of the rural folks to operate revenue generating projects.

Cabahug said the SSF program of DTI is directly focusing on the economic upliftment of the residents, transfer of technology and encouraging the establishment of micro and small enterprises that would facilitate the productive business climate in the locality.

She explained that the Mabiga farmers group receives various equipment to improve their cashew nuts business including oven, mechanized shelling machines, two stainless working tables and sealer.

Cabahug added that the Barangay Mabiga, Hermosa Farmers Development Cooperative is the first recipient of SSF program for this year 2016, the Agency has allocated P 1.729 million for the 9 listed projects .

The granting of cashew making project in Mabiga, Hermosa town is recorded as number 18 in the officially registered and implemented SSF projects since the program was launched in 2013, Cabahug said.
