AGLES hosts kick-off on ‘Oplan Goodbye Bulate’

MARIVELES, Bataan – The Antonio G. Llamas Elementary School (AGLES) in this southern town of the province hosted today’s kick-off ceremony on 2016 National Schools Deworming Day (NSDD) tagged as “Oplan Goodbye Bulate.”

Spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd)-Bataan, Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Department of Health (DOH)-Bataan, the activity aims to keep the students healthy, active and smart by making them free from parasites.

Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, PHO department head, encouraged every parent to allow their children to participate in the deworming activity.

According to Dr. Maria Belina Ibasco of DOH-Bataan, the deworming program is conducted twice a year, that is, every January and July wherein the students are given a chewable deworming tablet called “Albendazole.”

This event was a simultaneous activity held in all elementary schools of Bataan during their flag-raising ceremony today. DepEd selected AGLES as the host school to hold the kick-off for it bears the most number of elementary students having 3,994 pupils.
