SBMA donates computers to Balanga public school’s speech lab

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – City mayor Francis Anthony S. Garcia recently led the simple turn over ceremony of 30 computer units from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) to the city public school here.

The computer units were later delivered to the City of Balanga National High School (COBNHS) and would be installed to the school’s speech laboratory.

Mayor Garcia said, through a report from his Facebook page, the speech laboratory was erected through the efforts of the city government and its community partners.

The said laboratory will function in almost the same way as that of the Barangay Learning Hub (BLH), except that it is school-based. Like its community counterpart, it will also offer Khan Academy to learners.

The speech lab was constructed for the training of future call center agents.

Balanga City government has long been preparing its youth for the call service industry, especially now that it was named as a top destination for information and technology-business process management (IT-BPM) firms.

Though the memorandum of agreement between the city and SBMA benefits only the COBNHS’ speech laboratory, it might open more opportunities for collaboration.

Mayor Francis Garcia was a former director of the SBMA board before running as city mayor here.
