Balanga City sets up 2 learning hubs

BALANGA CITY, Bataan –This fast-growing component city has set up two learning hubs that will further upgrade the education program of the province. This was revealed yesterday by Mayor Francis S Garcia who said that the learning centers were put up in barangays Cupang proper and in Cataning.

Governor Abet S. Garcia and 2nd district Representative Joet S. Garcia who are giving priority on the education program of the province, have been setting aside millions of pesos yearly for the education of the poor but deserving students.

With the two learning hubs, Mayor Garcia said they are now eyeing the Hall of Fame in the National Literacy Award.

Balanga City had already twice emerged as champion in the National Literacy Awards for the component city category during the stint of then Mayor Joet Garcia.

Newsmen learned that the members of Literacy Coordinating Council conducted last week a 3-day validation of the literacy programs of the city.

According to Mayor Garcia, the literacy programs include barangay learning hubs, reading/IT corners, ALS class, Project Duke Session, learning barangay week, Edu Child Parenting Program, and school learning hub.

 Congressman  Joet Garcia, Mayor Garcia, and Vice Mayor Vianca Venzon-Gozon led recently the presentation of the literacy programs to the members of the Literacy Coordinating Council, optimistic that the city can bag again the prestigious education award.

Newsmen learned that the national government has launched the National Literacy Program award to give recognition to local government units that are undertaking literacy programs for the less-fortunate like the out-of-school youth.
