With Briones in the house, a better ALS is assured

CITY of BALAGA, Bataan – No less than the amiable grand lady of the Department of Education (DepEd), Secretary Leonor M. Briones graced the week-long Alternative Learning System (ALS) Orientation for DepEd Officials at the Division Level being held at the National Education Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) in Davao City, Region XI.

Visibly old, yet still physically fit and mentally alert, Secretary Briones flew all the way from Manila to Davao City to provide the much needed moral support to the ALS Focal Persons and EPSA from Luzon.

Our very own Ms. Milagros Penaflor, EPSI from the Division of Bataan and Mrs. Gemma Rose Loyola, EPSA from the City of Balanga had the rare opportunity to meet the unassuming, warm-hearted yet witty secretary and listen to her valuable words of wisdom as she shared her insights on the current situation of the ALS program in the country.

In the end, as she rallied the ALS implementers, she promised a better Alternative Learning System to the delight of these equally hardworking and selfless mentors, who will come home with renewed commitment and dedication to their job.
