PILAR, Bataan – The 10,000 bed capacity drug rehab center inside Fort Magsaysay in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija is now being readied to accommodate drug patients in Central Luzon.
This was learned yesterday from Dr Elizabeth Pizarro Serrano, Chief of the Bataan Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center based in Barangay Liyang, this town, who said that they were tapped by the Department of Health to assist and train the new personnel of the drug rehab center in Fort Magsaysay.
Dr. Serrano said that she will bring with her a number of medical personnel and rehabilitated drug patients from the Bataan drug rehab center to help in the newly-constructed Palayan City drug rehabilitation center.
The Bataan drug treatment and rehab center was established years ago at the back of the historic Mt Samat through the initiative of then 2nd district congressman and now governor Abet S. Garcia. Today, it draws patients not only from Central Luzon but also from Metro Manila and other areas.
Dr Serrano said that a total of 18 rehabilitated patients will join her team to share their knowledge to the incoming patients in Nueva Ecija. “They (18 graduated patients) are models and can help and assist the patients in the new drug center in Palayan city,” pointed out Serrano.
Aside from Bataan team of medical personnel, there are also other medical staff from Dagupan and two other drug centers who will join their team in Nueva Ecija. “We are ready share our skills, knowledge and experiences in treating drug patients,” added Serrano.
