BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan 2nd district Rep. Joet Garcia is conducting “Congressional Barangay Day” in the villages of the district.
The program is patterned after the “Barangay Week’ he hatched when he was still mayor of Balanga aiming to bring the government closer to the people and empower barangays.
He said they conduct the program two days in each barangay. The congressman said there is a need to reach out and engage with people and officials of the villages.
Activities in the “Congressional Barangay Day” include consultation, Educhild program, discussion of peace and order situation, assisting barangay folks for online jobs employment, medical mission, and physical exercise, among others.
Garcia advised barangay officials to discuss and plan ahead what priority projects they need in their respective barangays.
Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion lauded Garcia for initiating the program as he witnessed the positive impact during the conduct of the program in Barangay Alion. “This program of Cong. Joet is benefitting our constituents”, the mayor said.
Elias Almelor, broadcaster of local radio 91.1 Sikat FM, said the mayor is very satisfied in the way the congressman handles the preparation and actual conduct of the program.
Earlier, Concepcion and other officials of Mariveles vowed to work hand in hand with Gov. Abet Garcia and the congressman for the progress of their town.
