Bataan breaks the digital divide

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Governor Albert S. Garcia graced the blessing and led the turn-over ceremony of the Senior High School Information Hub (iHub) held this morning at the JC Payumo Memorial High School in this town.

With the full implementation of the K-12 Program of the Department of Education, which aims to provide quality education for all, the Provincial Government of Bataan and the Schools Division of Bataan embarked on its first big step to break the existing “digital divide” – a technology gap between the digital natives (learners) and the digital migrants (traditional teacher) which hinders the acquisition of technology based information that the 21st Century learners must possess.

The project consist of supply, installation, and support of complete IT equipment packages including speechlab software for the 16 senior high schools iHub laboratory provincewide.

Also present in the event were Dr. Jesse Ferrer, Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Delfin Magpantay, Mr. Geoffrey Loyola of the Provincial Information Office and Management Information Systems Office,  DepEd Bataan officials and local government officials.
In the afternoon of the same day, another iHub was turned-over to the Pablo Roman National High School in Pilar.
