Bagac awaits approval of 2 hectares lot donation for tourism center project

BAGAC, Bataan – The Municipal Government is waiting for the donation of  a two-hectare land from the National Power Corporation (NPC)  for the proposed construction of Bagac Municipal Tourism Center in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Nick S. Ancheta, municipal administrator, has disclosed that the country’s youngest municipal executive Louise Gabriel Q, del Rosario and the Sangguniang Bayan members are expecting early approval of the deeds of donation from the Power Sector Assets Liability Management (PSALM).

Ancheta revealed that Mayor del Rosario has already allocated P 2 million for the construction of the one-story tourism center, however the formal document reportedly remains under processing stages of NPC.

The Municipal Council has envisioned to allot additional budget   for the construction of a covered court, oval and park.

The Proposed municipal tourism center would provide better historical perspective of the town as one of the starting points of infamous Death March, sprawling beach resorts, virgin forest and exotic waterfalls inside the Bataan National Park, health tourism sites, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar and other well-preserved ecotourism destinations, Ancheta said.

Bataan’s only provincial tourism center is in Balanga City, more than 25 kilometers away from Bagac town proper an adjacent to a memorial park, Filipino-Japanese Friendship Tower and Bataan Death March marker in Barangay Bagumbayan, this town.

According to Architect Techie Enriquez, Bataan provincial tourism officer, the town of Bagac facing the panoramic West Philippine Sea, is one of the favorite destinations of local and foreign tourists  with estimated arrivals of about 800,00 visitors annually.

She explained the growing tourism and travel industry in Bagac town with more than 70 kilometers of pristine waters and fine sand beaches are key factors to local tourism growth.
