BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The “Kapatid Mentor Me Program”, an initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Phil. Center for Entrepreneurship aims to help the country’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) expand their business.
Last Tuesday, 21 mentees of the 2nd batch of the said program of DTI-Bataan who successfully completed the program joined a simple graduation rites held at Crown Royale Hotel, this City
Ms. Nelin Cabahug, OIC – DTI Bataan Provincial Director confirmed the 21 graduates of the KMMEP program, and said that this program aims to help them scale up their enterprise, that these graduates can be an instrument to spur economic activity which can generate employment and once in the mainstream of OTOPreneurs, can be ready for business expansion.
DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles in her message said that she observed in the group discussion before the graduation, the output of the different improvement plans of the mentees, that they have really learned from the 11 weeks seminar from the different modules covering the areas of product development, marketing, operations management, accounting, taxation, finance and obligations and contract. She added that KMMEP is a highly qualified program of the government. which is given free.
The 15 judges who also served as mentors/coaches who assisted and helped the aspiring entrepreneurs during the theoretical/ conceptual discussions were composed of Mr. Paulo Tibig, a prominent businessman and well known motivational speaker, Mr. John Calugay, a bank manager, Ms. Amanda Battad, a consistent business awardee, Mr. Orly dela Peña, businessman and currently the Pres. of the Phil. Chamber of Commerce and Industry- Bataan Chapter, Ms. Pamela Santos, Khairy Alonto and many others..
In the response of one of the graduates, Divina Canare of COFMACO, an organic food manufacturing company said that truly the “Mentor Me” program will help the small businesses to grow big. Likewise, Perlita Nepomuceno of the famous J2 restaurant said that in her 30 years in the business, she thought she already knew many things but was surprised to learn that there’s a lot more to be done, in fact she plans to retire at age 65 but because of KMMEP, her passion for business has been renewed.
