BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In line with the goal of PLDT Gabay Guro Program of the PLDT- Smart Foundation headed by Ms. Chaye Cabal- Revilla, to help the teachers survive their teaching profession in this digital age, Mr. Andrew L. Santos, Head of Consumers Marketing for PLDT and Smart and Mr. Merdoc Mendoza, PLDT Zone Operations head, announced during the program that Bataan will now be the first fiber-optic powered province in North and Central Luzon.
According to the said officials, they have already finished rolling-out the fiber optic powered cable system in the province, and explained that this will improve speed and simplify installations, powering and communications.
Mr. Santos in his message also said that “Technology cannot replace good teachers, but technology in the hands of good teachers is transformation” which he borrowed from the words of George Courus.
The PLDT-Smart Foundation gave tribute to all the teachers for their dedication, commitment and sacrifices in fulfilling their profession through a Teachers Festival where they were entertained by some of the country’s best artists Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Jaya, Gabby Concepcion, Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Randy Santiago, Jonalyn Viray and Boobay, who outsmarted one another giving the teachers the best laugh of their lives.
Ms. Chaye Cabal- Revilla in her message said that they brought Gabay Guro in Bataan because they want to further education, that with better education, people will have a better chance in their lives, “maayos na buhay, maayos na pamilya, maayos na bayan.”
