NGCP prepares for Typhoon Rosita

BALANGA, Bataan – Power system operator and transmission service provider National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has implemented the necessary preparations and precautions to minimize the impact of Typhoon Rosita on transmission operations and facilities.
“Preparations include ensuring the reliability of communications equipment, availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damages to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, to facilitate immediate restoration work”, NGCP Regional Corporate Communication Officer Fely Francisco relayed to this writer.
She added NGCP’s Integrated Disaster Action Plan prescribes these and other procedures to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities expected to be affected by the passage of the weather disturbance.
Meanwhile, as of 5am report from PAG-ASA today (Oct 29), Bataan is under Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 1.
PDRRMO Head Josefina Timoteo said the province has already made the necessary preparations including the availability of evacuation centers and ready relief goods as well as anticipation of frequently flooded towns.
