Gov. Abet cares

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan welcomes the year 2019 with renewed vigor, zest, dedication as well as innovative ideas with the end in view of offering better, fast, reliable and efficient public service.
Mandated by law to develop, administer and implement comprehensive social welfare programs designed to uplift the living conditions and empower the disadvantaged children, youth, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, families in crisis or at-risk and communities needing assistance, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) welcomes the new year with a novel idea of showing sensitivity to people’s needs.
Nowadays, PSWDO clients under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AIDS) program that covers hospitalization, medical and emergency assistance to name a few, receive the financial assistance they requested on the same day that they applied for it for as long as the amount does not exceed P5,000.00.
According to Ms. Christina May Ferma, Crisis Intervention Division Chief, once a client walks in to their office, presents complete documents and passes the interview, a competent staff will do the necessary assessment and review, after which, the financial assistance requested is released to the client on the same day. On ordinary days, their office processes an average of 60 clients a day.
This “on the day pay out” was made possible through a Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution allowing the PSWDO to have a revolving fund that they replenish on a day-to-day basis. Under this scheme, clients need not go back a day or two later to receive the financial assistance, which saves them a lot of time, money and effort.
According to Mrs. Marilyn Tigas, PSWDO chief, this innovation is fully supported by Gov. Abet Garcia. In fact she had to hire additional staff to be able to cope with the influx of clients on a day-to-day basis.
Tigas added that in extending help, time is of the essence. This is how Bataan shows that it cares, how Gov. Abet cares.
