MARIVELES, Bataan – Maritime security and ports services were among the issues tackled in the recent maritime security forum sponsored by the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB).
Hazel Keith of the AFAB’s corporate communication department, said the forum centered on the national security program for sea transport and maritime infrastructure in consonance with Executive Order 197 designating the secretary of Transportation and Communication as the authority responsible for the security of sea and maritime transport.
Guidelines were also drawn on training for certification of all service providers in terminals.
Also discussed in the said forum were the roles of concerned agencies in reference to the implementing rules and regulations of EO 197.
Engr. Emmanuel D. Pineda, AFAB chair and administrator, said the establishment and improvement of the Freeport’s services and audit accessibility are among the priorities of AFAB’s action plan under the SOFT HEART Program.
The Martrain Inc. (Maritime Safety and Security Training, Auditing and Services) has been accredited maritime registered security organization (ReSo) by the DOTr.
