Bataan earmarks P 30 million for Pilar river project

The Provincial Government of Bataan has earmarked P 30 million for the dredging of heavily silted river and improvement of upland villages waterways in Pilar town.
Assistant Provincial Engineer Arleen R. Santos said the project intends to improve the capacity of the river which is directly affected by the big volume of rainwaters from Barangay Pantingan to the Pilar-Bagac boundary.
Engr. Santos said the improvement of the Talisay river channel would protect hundreds of hectares of agricultural crops from the devastation of floodwaters while hundreds of residents of the flood-prone barangays in Pilar namely Nagwaling, Panilao, Ala-uli and sections of Poblacion and Del Rosario are also expected to benefit from the project.
The dredging and improvement of the river channel is part of the over-all government flood control program of insuring the safety and welfare of the residents in the low-lying areas as well as their sources of livelihood when rainy season comes.
The project, expected to be completed before the end of the 3rd quarter of this year. would expand the volume of rainwaters flowing down the rivers of Pantingan, Nagwaling, Ala-uli in Pilar town and Barangays Central, Cupang,Talisay and Tortugas in Balanga City toward the Manila Bay.
