During the Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) held yesterday at the Lou-Is Resort and Restaurant, seven eligible CSOs were selected as members of the PDC (1) The Bataan Cooperative Development Council with Mr. Rolando Cruz as the chairperson; (2) Bataan Contractors Association with Board Member/ Engr. Noel Valdecanas as President; (3) Provincial Women’s Commission headed by Mrs. Vicky Garcia (represented by Ms. Ana Verdida; (4)Bataan Chamber Commerce and Industry with its President Mr. Orly dela Pena;(5) Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers-Bataan chapter headed by Board Member/Engr Manny Beltran;(6)Prov’l Agriculture and Fisheries Council with chairperson, Henry N. Custodio and (7)Bataan Peninsula Lion’s Club with its President Victor Quezon; and took their oath before Gov. Abet Garcia.
Through the initiative of the DILG, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and the PPDO were guided in the process of accrediting the CSOs as an authorized
and qualified partner of the LGU specially in the local special bodies such as the Provincial Development Council (PDC).
Moreover, as stated in the DILG guidelines on engagements with the civil society, it is important to develop and strengthen collaborative relationship between the government and the civil society in building a long term foundation of good governance.
Gov. Abet Garcia himself duly recognizes the significance of having an active, informed and capacitated civil society in upholding a culture of good governance and have open spaces for CSOs to participate in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programs and projects of the provincial government.
