A non-government organization in the African country of Ghana is interested to commercialize the Bataan Peninsula State University-developed biomass cookstove.
“The NGO from Ghana informed us that they are interested to manufacture for commercial distribution the vertical-fed biomass cookstove we developed”, BPSU Abucay Campus Director and inventor of the cookstove Engr. Jonathan Lacayanga said.
“We will become consultant if it pushes through”, he said.
“The cookstove, aside from not polluting the air, is safe, easy to use, consume minimal fuel, durable and adaptable for different cooking purposes”, he explained.
Lacayanga said, according to a World Health Organization report, about 2.5 billion people in more than 500 million homes worldwide use dirty and inefficient cookstoves.
He added in developing countries like the Philippines, the use of open fire stove that burn biomass fuel inefficiently are noted to cause hazards to human health, environment, and other household problems.
