FAB leans towards township

In his 2nd State of the Freeport Address (SOFA) held at the FAB Auditorium last October 10, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Chairman and Administrator Emmanuel Pineda underscored that they are leaning towards township.

Republic Act 11453, signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte last August 30, 2019, extended the responsibilities and jurisdiction of the AFAB and with this amendment, National Housing Authority (NHA) is now compelled to construct more housing facilities while the Department of Health (DOH) will build a new tertiary hospital.
Said extension of powers were driven by their remarkable performance from 2010 such as 400% increase in Mariveles business tax collections, 400% increase in BIR tax collections, lowest poverty incidence in the country at 1.6%, generation of almost 30,000 new jobs, fastest growing freeport from 2012 and its consistent contribution to national government income.

This township is initiated by the Governor of Bataan and father of FAB himself, Governor Abet Garcia together with Congressman Joet Garcia who authored the RA 11453 which was sponsored by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
