MOST of the workers of newly-opened WalterMart should be sourced from Balanga City or at least from the province of Bataan to keep in spirit with the law which provides that a business establishment should hire 95 percent of its workers from the community where it is located.
This was announced last Saturday (October 12) during the opening of 30th branch natiowide of WalterMart mall on Roman Highway in Barangay Tenejero, Balanga City and the first in Bataan.
Jek Buning, WalterMart Vice President, said “this is the beginning of fruitful partnership between the city government of Balanga and WalterMart.” He said the WalterMart’s objectives are in synch with the provincial government aim of sustainable economic development and providing world-class environment to the local community.
Buning said the number one community mall is set to provide Balanguenos convenient services with anchor tenants like WalterMart Supermarket, W Department Store, Abenson, Homeplus, Food Choices, services and arcade.
At the moment, WalterMart employs 450 young men and women. It expects to hire up to 1,000 employees or more as it grows as the need arises.
Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia welcomed the shopping public and mere kibitzers at exactly 1pm. The people from all walks of life simultaneously and instantly swarmed the mall like flood waters as the town executive declared the mall open.
City Mayor Francis Garcia lauded the people behind the WalterMart for investing in Balanga which is fast-becoming the best place to live in. He thanked WalterMart for having donated 30 units of computers.
