Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways 3rd District, met last January 21 to discuss the concerns of households to be affected by the construction of Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB).
Gov. Garcia discussed with Engr. Oliver Hernandez, BCIB project manager; Maribel Navarro, district engineer of Bataan 3rd District; and Oliver Clemente, assistant district engineer, the plight of affected non-landowner families. As of press time, the number of affected families was not immediately available.
Previous reports said the BCIB project gets P64 billion funding from China-based lending agency Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The multilateral development bank said in a statement that the funding would support the government’s infrastructure drive that aims to improve connectivity across the country.
The bridge starts from Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, crosses the Manila Bay and ends at Barangay Timalan in Naic, Cavite. It will reduce travel time between the two provinces to 45 minutes from five hours.
