BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Education, Division of Bataan led by Dr. Tarcila Javier assured the public of their readiness and preparedness for the opening of classes on Monday, June 1.
In a news conference last Wednesday at the conference room of DepEd Bataan, Javier said that she doesn’t look at the problems that will take place but view it as a great challenge to all of them in their agency. “Sa ngayon wala pa akong nakikitang problema dahil magbubukas pa lamang ang klase. Pero napaka swerte po ng Bataan dahil natutugunan ng local government ang mga pangangailangan sa classrooms at teachers,” Javier told newsmen here.
Josefina Naguit, Division Planning Officer III of DepEd Bataan said that this coming school year 2015-2016, they are expecting 96,000 enrollees for elementary and 46,000 for secondary schools. Naguit added that the ratio for teachers and students here is 1:37 in grade school while 1:39 to 40 for secondary education.
Javier also said that as far as the K-12 program is concerned they are now on the 4th year of implementation of the controversial curriculum being debated in congress. “Nung nakaraang tatlong taon po wala kaming nakitang problema in terms of what we have. Ang talaga pong pinaghahandaan natin ay ang senior high school na kalunduan ng ating K-12 program,” she added.
The K-12 Basic Education Program incorporates the curriculum enhancement, early childhood education, and specialized upper secondary education. The entire system is provided free for Filipinos in public schools through Republic Act 10157 and R.A. 10533.
Edgar Garcia, education program supervisor and senior high school focal person said that the students are ready for their chosen fields or tracks based on their career guidance and surveys that they recently conducted along with the well oriented teachers in line with the implementation of the K-12 program
