BALANGA CITY, Bataan – More than 2,000 delegates of the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC), international media outfits, and foreign tourists are expected to enjoy the splendid coastline facing the West Philippine Sea and panoramic view of a peaceful community of Bagac town, one of the premier tourist destinations in Central Luzon.
Nick Ancheta, municipal administrator of Bagac said the town’s tourism council chaired by Mrs. Leilani del Rosario is coordinating with various government and private sectors in the preparations to ensure that the delegates’ and other visitors’ stay will be a pleasant and memorable experience.
About 400 delegates composed of senior finance officials from 21 countries will attend the APEC workshop on fiscal management through transparency and reforms to be held in the country’s famous heritage homes at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar on June 9-12, 2015.
The first international APEC meeting hosted by the fast growing tourism developing town, Ancheta said, will serve as an effective medium to encourage Asians and Americans to come to Bagac which is one of the starting points of the infamous Death March during the Second World War including historical and cultural landmarks.
Del Rosario said that they hope to take the opportunity to showcase at the global stage the grandeur that the bucolic town of Bagac can offer to tourists, local and foreign alike in particular its pristine beaches.
She explained that several undeveloped waterfalls located in the thickly forested areas in the periphery of Bagac-Mariveles and Morong towns are in the list for future development scheme to enhance the local tourism industry.
She added the great potential of Bagac as a foremost tourist destination is further heightened by the tourist awareness from the converging of senior finance officers during the APEC meeting.
