Aerial seeding in Bataan to continue

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Representative Enrique “Tet” Garcia of Bataan’s second district announced the continuation of aerial seeding as a means of reforesting bald portions of forests in the province. The congressman said the project will involve the Aetas and public school children and the use of a Huey helicopter of the Philippine Air Force.

The Aeta natives will gather for a fee seeds of different hardwood species which will be wrapped by school children. “We want children to participate in this worthwhile undertaking so they will start at the early age of protecting our environment,” Garcia said. Once the forest tree seeds are prepared, the helicopter will then drop the seeds in selected areas.

Garcia said he was happy to hear of reports from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office that new growth of forest trees were observed after aerial seedings were undertaken when he was provincial governor.

The elder Garcia is on his second term as congressman, replacing his son Albert Garcia who is now the governor.
