NFA Bataan has mobile procurement team

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The National Food Authority (NFA) Bataan has a mobile procurement team that purchases palay from local farmers.

“We have mobile procurement team that goes to farmers in the province to purchase palay”, said NFA Bataan Manager Adelaida Nuestro. “Farmers need not to go to our office to transact. We will be the one going to them”, “We pay the farmers right then and haul the palay”, added the NFA Bataan manager.

Nuestro said they are purchasing palay at P17 per kilogram with incentives. “When there is abundant supply during harvest, the tendency is that commercial traders peg the price of palay at lower price. We are offering an option to farmers”, she explained.

“Of course, we will not hinder the farmers to sell their palay to private traders offering higher price especially during times when supply is scarce”, she clarified.

Nuestro also assured that there is enough supply of rice in the province. “I assure the people of Bataan that there is sufficient supply of rice. We have enough stock, and we have already prepared for the lean months”, she said.
