POPCEN 2015 Trained 31 Hired Supervisors

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted the 2015 Census Population (POPCEN 2015) Third Level Training of the Census Area Supervisors (CASs) at Crown Royal Hotel, Tenejero, this City from July 20 to 25, 2015. The participants were composed of Head CAS, Hired CAS and Census Project staff.

The 31 CASs who will be assigned in their respective municipalities underwent rigorous training to act as trainers for the next level of training and to supervise the actual census taking starting August 10, 2015.

Interim Provincial Statistical Officer Ledesma L. Morante welcomed the participants and discussed the overview of the POPCEN 2015. She emphasized to the CASs the importance of being friendly yet authoritative in performing their duties.

The trainers, Statistician Francisco P. Corpuz, PSA staff Jessie V. Garcia and Richard T. Guevara handled two separate classes to discuss the concepts of the POPCEN 2015, duties and responsibilities of census personnel and filling out of census forms. PSA central office staff Redempta C. Velillla came to act as additional trainer and observer in said training.

On the fourth day, the training had to move to La Vista Resort, Cupang Proper also in this City hence, the field practice on July 24, 2015 was conducted in nearby households of Barangay Cupang Proper and Barangay Alauli in Pilar. Field Practice is a mock interview to actual households to test the learning the trainees acquired during the training. The data taken during the interviews will not be counted in the official population count.

The Head CAS who is a statistician/permanent staff of the PO will be responsible for the supervision and monitoring of the conduct of enumeration in the cities or municipalities of his/her jurisdiction. He/she will supervise all Hired CAS assigned to these areas. While the hired CAS will be responsible for a group of five teams, with each team consisting of one team supervisor (TS) and four enumerators (ENs).

On August 10 2015, all households and Institutional Living Quarters (ILQs) in all barangays throughout the country will be enumerated to gather information about their members. The enumeration units for the POPCEN 2015 are households, housing units, and ILQs.
